I'm pretty sure I've gotten you all with this before, but just in case, if there are any lingering Sailor Moon fans, come on over and join sailormoonland! I just relinquished my Main Mod status (which will free up a ton of my time to actually participate XD) and I'm looking for ward to it! You can apply here for Team Inners, Outers and Chaos! The moonlight carries the message of love!

I'm trying to find information on お見合い (omiai) customs, specifically with how they relate to more modern Japan...well, around the 1960s or early 1970s to be precise. I'm particularly interested in how much freedom the couple generally has during the "getting to know you" process. I know that during the first meeting, both sets of parents are present, though the couple can spend some alone time. And after that, they're allowed to go on several dates. Does the couple always need to be supervised, either by the parents or the nakōdo, or can they actually be alone? And any idea on forms of address? Is it your general -san honorific, or does the woman need to be more formal? Finally, is the woman (or her side of the family) allowed to initiate the omiai and/or eventually refuse the marriage, or must everything come from the male side? I would assume it originally had to be the male, but in modern times, maybe the woman has more of an opinion? And would this change if the male side was slightly higher in social and economic standing?

I need to get a life, seriously XDDD

That's right, folks, it's only taken me... *counts on fingers* ...almost eight months to get these posted, but here they are! I know some of you have seen the originals, but I always intended to get at least some online so everyone could see. Just take note that these are from the professional photographer, not the table cameras at the reception, so most of these are formal. I don't have the others on CD, and (as some of you may have noted in previous psots) I haven't been able to have a working scanner for quite some time, so these are the ones you get. They're really the best, anyway. So yeah, do enjoy, and please point people in the direction of the gallery, if you know anyone who doesn't have the link to my journal!
